Class Photos, Principal Conference at IES Kista and This week's Team Kista Talk

Dear all,

Last week we had the honor of having all principals from the 36 schools of IES, as well as the company board and chairman visit our school for a conference. Our students made us really proud and our school won the award for "most improved school" for the development and improvements we achieved last year.

This week we have school photos in the aula and the scheduled photo slot for each class can be found on Schoolsoft. We have also produced a new Team Kista Talk video for Mentor time and this week's word is community. The video can be found here!

First Team Kista Talk and Fire Drill

Dear all,

Week 36 has started well and we have had our first planned fire drill at the school this morning. All students had left the building in 6 minutes and within 16 minutes all students were accounted for and properly lined up in class order outside the school.

In regards to the Team Kista Talk, it is my way of communicating with all students on mentor time through a video message where I cover a different topic each week. This week the topic is Discipline! Enjoy!

A new School Year is upon us

A new School Year is upon us

Dear all,

As in the picture above, our staff are looking towards the horizon, seeing a new school year begin with all the excitement and challenges ahead of us. This summer we have worked a lot on the structure of the school, moving classrooms and student lounges, adding new rooms and furniture for our students so they can enjoy their breaks and get energized between classes.

I am very proud to welcome our students back to school after a well deserved summer break. We hope that you have had time to rest and relax so that you are ready for the academic year that will soon start.

At the school, preparations have been going on during the whole summer and we proudly welcome a new member in our leadership team, Mr Ian Gavin, who is responsible for the school ́s academic development as the new Academic Manager. Mr Gavin is no stranger to IES himself, having worked in the organization previously for three years,  holding among other leadership positions, the role of Academic Manager at IES Gymnasium in Södermalm. The last six years Mr Gavin has worked at the international school in Sigtuna (SSHL) as Vice Principal for Academics.

Mr Gavin shares our conviction in the educational philosophy we stand for and will lead and develop the academic wing in the school supporting teachers to keep moving forward on the challenging and exciting journey towards core knowledge and instructional excellence.

See you soon!

Highlights from Prom 2019

Highlights from Prom 2019

On Monday 3rd June, the grade 9s held their leaving ball at Restaurang Foodie in Akalla. The evening began with their students’ grand arrival, some being brought in some very impressive cars, from sports cars to stretched Limos. They were beautifully dressed, too, looking like a million dollars. Following an extremely tasty Middle Eastern buffet, the students filled the dance floor. There they stayed and danced the night away.

The staff who attended were extremely proud to see how wonderfully our students have grown in their time at IESK.

A big thank you to Ms Parada, Ms Yemane, Mr Locke and Ms LaRocca for their hard work during the evening, as well as to all the other staff who helped out.
