Gorgeous Green Space Around Kista’s New School

Gorgeous Green Space Around Kista’s New School

Work is almost complete on much of the green space belonging to IES Kista. In total the school will have three different green areas exclusively for the use of our students.

Completed: Overlooking the Kista Galleria this space is designed for students to relax in-between lessons

Fully enclosed by the school building, the main outdoor space is currently being transformed into a playground. There will be dedicated spaces for football, basketball and free space for the students to show their own creativity and spend time with friends.

Our younger students in Year 4 and Year 5 will have access to a separate terrace overlooking Kista Galleria. This space, complete with picnic tables and little enclaves is designed to be a more relaxed chill out and recreational space away from the playground hustle and bustle.

We have created a specific Science Garden which can be used by the students for small investigations and experiments. This addition for the Science Department will enchance our school's Science profile by offering more diversity to the subject's teaching in school. The garden will showcase students able to apply an active way to explore scientific research methods.

We are excited that our school is able to offer these outside spaces that will come alive once our students utilise the space. This canvas for creativity is now open for our students to make bright and alive.

Students Take The Chance To Try IES Kista

I was very proud of the students, staff and parents who took part in an Open Day in May as we showed what it will be like to attend our school.

Students who will be in years 4 to 8 in August came to our school for a morning, this time on a very sunny Saturday 23rd May. Thanks to not just the new students who gave up their time to see how work on our building is moving forwards, but also the parents for helping to start our community. Our new staff who helped at the event are full of enthusiasm and are making this project a really exciting one.

Presenting the superb statistics about IES schools in the National Tests to new parents

It was great to give students a taste of life at IES and what our schools are about. Open Days include short lessons in maths, English and Swedish, and give our excellent, qualified teachers from across the globe time to demonstrate how we inspire students and help teachers teach and students learn. This is a key part of the IES ethos and one I saw across all the classrooms I visited that morning, each classroom was calm and productive, as it should be.

Ms. Barbara Bergström, the founder of Internationella Engelska Skolan, attended the open day alongside her husband Dr. Hans Bergström. The drive and passion from Ms. Bergström is apparent and I know how proud she has been of opening this school in particular. We look forward greatly to her coming back to celebrate the school opening in August.

For now our main task is to finalise the recruitment of new staff, which should be complete in the coming weeks and to ensure the building work remains on schedule. I cannot wait for the new school year to arrive and to see happy, wide-eyed faces as our students step through the doors of IES Kista once again.
